Its all about game design
Long Live The King was my first school project. We started with a card game
to learn about the fundamentals of game design. The nice thing about
designing a board game is that we can easily iterate. For once I was only
the game designer, nothing else.

Long Live The King is a social deduction card game
where your goal is to become the next King.
You do so by collecting matching cards, the same cards
that you use to defend yourself or attack others.
Game Design Intentions
Double edged sword: Playing stronger cards will help
you in the battle phase. But you risk losing the valuable card.
Diplomatic debate: "Every action has an equal opposite reaction".
Players are encouraged to discuss with one another.
To stop another player from becoming King.
Less is more
What started with a 300 cards strategic "game",
became a well designed concept after these added constraints:
30$ budget for the first prototype
3 months of work
20 cards or less
We finally got these 18 cards:

This change gave me a new vision of the game, where the cards became
more valuable. This was great for the experience we wanted to offer.
Playing a card actually affects the player's deck as he only has 4 cards
to create his combo.
After lots of playtesting and balancing, we had a good prototype
to present to our exam. We got great feedback and motivation as
the professionals loved the game!
More on what I did
For this project I was the game designer:
Designed and implemented the core game mechanics and rules
Designed card layouts and user experience for optimal readability
Conducted playtests, gathered feedback, and iterated on mechanics
Balanced card abilities and costs using analytical methods and feedback
Planned and coordinated the workflow
